Mary,

First of all, thank you for your comment.

Just the very fact that you found my article online, felt the need to respond, and impulsively stated " I don't believe anything you wrote", speaks volumes of the current situation of Aflac, it's increasingly poor reputation in the job market, and the type of "culture" that exists there.

The reality is... is that you don't speak on behalf of Aflac, you speak for yourself as a self-employed, 1099 contractor of Aflac, not a direct employee.

To imply that Aflac is the only place where people work hard is hysterical. And the fact that you wish to discredit what I wrote, tells me either you are either frustrated in your recruiting efforts or are very much "out of sync" with what is happening in the country and in the insurance industry.

I valued my time (1 year) with Aflac. I owned/ran my own office (yes, as a CIT) and was "Rookie of the Year in New Accounts" for the region.

It was a great experience. I learned a lot and it prepared me for the 6-figure position I have now as VP of Human Resources.

This may shock you, but I work twice as hard now as during my time with Aflac... with so much more to show for it!

Thanks again for your comment!

I didn't know recruiters had most of the benefit than the potential employees or job searchers. It's a relief I stumbled on this post. If you go over it, you'll realize how the recruiters actually work with their companies and the unfair situation you'll be brought into.

Sorry, I don't believe any of what you wrote. I'm a 12 year veteran, received excellent training, and have no problem achieving my goals. I work EXTREMELY hard, and it shows. How long did you spend with Aflac?

Sounds like you rubbed people the wrong way, and gave up far too soon. Oh well; such is life. More accounts for me.

Jennifer,

Welcome to Source Blogger. That's actually a great question!

Assuming the reason you write/blog is to garner both visits/pageviews and for your content to get attention, then comments are the answer.

As both a blogger and one who frequently leaves comments, I am sometimes torn about leaving comments that either will get ignored or will do little to enhance my online profile . I just don't have the time for it. (But unlike many, I will usually leave a comment regardless. )

Commenting binds readers together. More comments will always mean more visits from the blogosphere. And we want our comments read just as much as our last blog post.

I normally try to shoot for at least 25-40 comments per post.

Don't get discouraged if an article you are excited about does not get the commenting in the beginning... eventually it comes.

What do you think?

Lisa,

Sorry for your injury.

There's probably a story to tell regarding the guest blogging, I bet?! I typically turn down most requests for guest blogging... the content is just not very good... at all! *shrugs*

Not all bloggers are good writers. With them, the focus is solely on SEO, not content quality.

Lastly, I feel that all barometers big and small "matter" when it comes to evaluating your blog, I'm just not sure Alexa Rank is the future.

Many people, including other bloggers, don't even know what Alexa Rank is!

Thanks for your comment. :)

My main site (Thriftability.com) was riding right at 212k after 8 mos of work to get it there. Following an injury, I began using more guest posts and paid content - so in effect, my blog lost it's road map. I'm back on track with posting 100% unique content... I haven't given up, bit I have definitely reconsidered what's important here, rather than pursuing the almighty Alexa status (rank.) Great post - thanks!

A great article, and very illuminating, I was unaware that Alexa didn't register without the toolbar, hm. So how accurate is this data and how much should I depend upon it. Thought provoking thank you, I don't think i shall be quite as obsessed about my rankings (still obsessed but not crazy)

Thanks again

Thanks for the good tips provided here! We are all accountable of paying our taxes in the right place.
I’m glad this post could help you define where do you need to focus on. But it’s what we think helps us the most. thanks for the share.
