125 pixel ads How To Add 125x125 Ad Cluster To Your Blogger Blog In 30 Seconds125×125 ads are the preferred method of blog advertising in the blogging world. Unfortunately, your Blogger (Blogspot) blog is not set up to display 125×125 ads.

But, with this simple coding, you will truly to pursue real advertising opportunities… in 30 seconds!

STEP 1:

Log in to Blogger, go to “Design“, and click on “Add a Gadget” -> select it as “HTML/JavaScript“.

Paste the following code into the HTML box:

<table border="0">
<tbody>
<tr>
<th width="126" height="126" align="center"><a href="http://sourceblogger.com"><img src="http://a.imageshack.us/img827/6786/125x125source.jpg" alt="”Blogging_Tips”" width="”125”" height="”125”" /></a></th>
<th width="126" height="126" align="center"><img src="http://www.bravo-kernel.com/wp-content/plugins/wp125/125-advertise-here.gif" alt="" /></th>
</tr>
<tr style="text-align: center;">
<td width="126" height="126" align="center"><img src="http://www.bravo-kernel.com/wp-content/plugins/wp125/125-advertise-here.gif" alt="" /></td>
<td style="text-align: center;" width="126" height="126"><img src="http://www.bravo-kernel.com/wp-content/plugins/wp125/125-advertise-here.gif" alt="" /></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>

STEP 2:

Click “Save”.

Look at your watch – All of 30 seconds.

Now, check out your page.

Let’s breakdown the above code so you fully understand its parts:

  • The Image’s Source. The source image can either come from the URL of your hosted image or the URL of an existing online image. An advertiser will normally supply you the URL of their hosted image. As a courtesy, you can offer to “store” the advertiser’s ad image on your hosted image account if they are not using a hosted image account of their own. (It’s free)
  • The Image’s URL. Paste the URL of where you want to direct the reader who has clicked on the 125×125 ad. The advertiser will provide the exact URL. (Normally the home page.)

  • The Dimensions and Associated Text. Maintain the height and width, but change the “alt” tag to represent the keyword associated with your image. I used Blogging Tips as an example above.
  • SEO Tip: In many examples of alt tags you would see something that looks like this: alt=”Blogging Tips”. Unfortunately the full description of your tag would not show properly. It would appear as this: “Blogging. I add an underscore to guarantee that both words are detected: “Blogging_Tips”.

It’s that simple.

    Wow thanks for all that. At some point I want to monetize my blog and add product reviews that I can then recommend those products to my customers. I wondered how these ads were done so now I know. Thanks again.

      Patricia –

      I know you have said you were a new blogger on the scene and I admire your transparency and attentiveness.

      I think you are seeking advice and inspiration in all of the right places.

      Now only if I would have done that when I was a new blogger… (sigh…)

      Thanks your for your comment, Patricia. I seem to be writing about blog advertising a lot….? (scratches head… wonder why?)

    I’m really surprised Google hasn’t done much yet in the upgrade department of Blogger.

    Jeff,

    I don’t like being a wet blanket. But it is considered poor use of html to use tables for positioning elements on a web page. HTML is a language with a specific use and it’s own syntax (grammar). It is suppose to simply define what the content is, not so much how it looks. Tables are intended for displaying and organizing data. Not laying out images, columns of text or any other elements that make up a web page.

    The semantically correct way to layout ads or any other elements is by using the DIV tags in your HTML and then control the layout using CSS.

    I’ve been meaning to write a tutorial on this for some time. It’s actually very simple to do.

    I guess I better make some time for that tutorial, eh? :)

    Hi Joella,

    You could never be a wet blanket! LOL

    Many bloggers prefer not to have to deal with editing their HTML code and like the copy and paste method within widgets.

    I had received e-mails from readers who were not “techy” or considered themselves “template-challenged” and I wanted to come up with a simple resource for them.

    I also have a preference for Div tags and am using Div tags on my other Blogger blogs.

    Let us know when your tutorial is done! =)

    Can you tell me how to do 6 ads instead of 4? Like 2 in each row and 3 down.

    This is going to come in handy. I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to have my designer create this html on his own. I have 100 projects for him right now that involve my small business blogs and having him fiddle with some of the smaller things for a couple of hours doesn’t work for me.

    Thank you, retweeted.
